So, only two days to go at work. Today the Hoover Band visited - our very own brass band - and played Christmas carols through our lunch hour. It was strange to see our managers bobbing up and down to the Twelve Days of Christmas (yes, this was an interactive, dancing carol concert), but there is something so nice about the fact that the Hoover Band visit every year. We had a really good buffet from Dutson's too, featuring the biggest Black Forest gateau I have ever seen and mince pies filled right to the top.
I am somehow managing to mostly keep up with the timetable I wrote myself to fit all my studies and mummy-related work in. I even had time to watch the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special. I thought that Aled Jones was brilliant for dancing to some sort of middle-aged hip-hop version of 'Walking in the Air', but of course Jill and Darren were the best. Kaplinsky, the minx, was not even trying to hide her lust for her curly-haired partner - if they weren't at it before, I bet there are now. Right now. Outrageous.
Tomorrow we are having yet another buffet, this time one that we all have to bring something to, and to that end I have spent half an hour stabbing small bits of cheese and pickled onions with cocktail sticks. My trip to the Co-op was the most depressing part of my week - I was the stereotypical cat lady, small basket filled with cat food, plus a block of cheese, a jar of pickles, a tin of pineapple chunks and some cocktail sticks. The place was full of chavs leering at everyone and generally being scummy, some of them dressed in antlers but still revolting. Eugh.
Tomorrow is going to fly by, Lee and I are apparently 'swapping presents' tomorrow, but he has to respect the fact that I WANT TO KEEP MINE TIL CHRISTMAS DAY. I am sad like that, but I have my ways. I am utterly convinced that his reaction to what I get him will be 'Hmm.' So after that I am heading home straight after work on Christmas Eve - I will miss Gabriel, who hasn't been so well, while I am gone. She's curled up on my bed right now, and I am glad she seems to be getting some sleep. If you didn't know me, you would think I had a daughter, not a cat...
