Last night was horribly hellish. At about 7 we went to go take a walk with the dog and heard a spraying sound in the basement. We went down and saw a gushing gas leak coming from the dryer hose. Pete's response was helpful. He began to swear, yell and throw things. I decided that the best course of action (obviously) was to call the National Fuel gas emergency line. Pete disagreed and in the meantime called his father. After about 15 minutes we had managed to patch the leak with duct tape, open two large windows in the basement and the gas company was to be here momentarily. I went back down into the basement to find Pete's dad thrashing to open a third window. He asked me if I thought he should break the window and I told him that there was plenty air flow, the leak had been patched and that I thought we should just wait for the gas company. He then proceeded to laugh at me and break my goddamn window with a hammer!!!! By the time I ran outside to tell Pete the gas man showed up. Pete's father came from the basement and started yelling at the gas man for taking so long. Pete was screaming at his father to leave our house and we eventually had to call Pete's mom to take his dad away. I have never in my life dealt with someone who handles emergencies so poorly. The man actually had the audacity to mock me before damaging my property when the problem had been all but entirely solved! The man is absolutely INSANE!!
Needles to say Pete and I are both incredibly angry at his father and we now know NEVER to contact him during an emergency again!
