Today was Easter.  And, coincidentally, it was also General Conference.  Kind of a nice combination actually, although the kids were a bit stir-crazy by the end of the day (partly thanks to the rain that appeared this afternoon..  I decided to tone down the goodies a bit this year.  Instead of buying candy both for filling eggs and for baskets I just bought a couple of the cheap pre-made baskets that you find in the stores.  There were a few items of candy in each, and some toys.  Ayanna got a collection of cheap art supplies and Leland got a couple of cars.  The toys aren't wonderful quality, but it isn't like they are in need of more toys.  And they certainly don't need much candy.  As it was the candy from the plastic eggs in the egg hunt were plenty for them and it gives me a bit more control over how much they get.  They also each got a new bathing suit set.  Costco had some rather cute ones that came with cover-ups, matching shirt for the boys and a terrycloth dress for the girls.  Ayanna was a bit disappointed in the one I chose initially, but seemed to get over it quickly enough.  They were Disney Princess designs and, though I gave her a choice when we were there last, she wasn't able to make up her mind.  So I chose for her.  I suppose I should have pressured her more, but I had my idea of which I wanted her to have and took advantage of her indecision.  Lee, however, had a distinct idea of which he wanted, so he got it.  And, weather permitting, they should have the chance of using them on Wednesday.  We are scheduled to go to Half Moon Bay to the beaches there.  I am praying the weather is fair so that we can get out of the house.  I also would like some warm weather so my squashes can come up.  I would hate to have to resort to buying plants, as I haven't been able to find any English cucumber plants, which are the variety that we prefer.  I find they have a lot more flavor.  But we may just have to make do.

Ayanna showed a bit of her tendency to be just like Mommy today, much to Robert's dismay.  We have a constant banter going on about who is truly in charge around the house.  The end result being, of course, that MOMMY is in charge.  Today Robert decided to enlist the help of his daughter and asked her who was in charge.  She very emphatically said, "Mommy!!!"  When he protested and asked, "What about Daddy?", she laughed and said, "Silly Daddy!!!"  What a good girl.  She knows how things are supposed to be!
