Yay for Robert!!!

Robert is on cloud nine tonight.  Maybe higher.  Bill has been teaching him to drive.  I haven't written about it because of the public nature of this journal and because he wanted it to be a surprise for his father.  But it is all over now, so it is OK for me to write about.  He took his test today.  It was his second try.  The first time he was disqualified because he turned right on red at an intersection that didn't allow right on red.  He just didn't see the sign.  That was a month ago.  Today he took the test again.  He got marked down for a few minor things, mostly due to inexperience.  He tends to panic a bit when the light turns yellow and slam on the breaks instead of being able to gauge when he can go through and when he has time to stop.  And, his breaking was a bit jerky because he is just getting used to the new brakes we had installed a couple weeks ago.  But he got an 86.  He only got docked 14 points.  So  now, after 23 years of telling himself that it is impossible, he is officially a licensed driver.  He even drove us home.  He has made it clear that he plans on gloating for a few weeks.  I think that  I plan on letting him.  He has gone from getting angry every time I brought the subject up, to being willing to listen but not wanting to talk, to today.  I am SO proud of him.
