Serves Me Right

This is what I get for procrastinating.  I had planned on doing a review of the books I read in the second part of 2006.  Well after the move, I'll be darned if I can find the day planner where I wrote down everything I finished.   Shoot.

So, my recommendations are to read Vanity Fair.   Ok, yes, I read it in 2007, but I just love that book.  What great characters!  I rented the Reese Witherspoon movie adaptation that came out two years ago.  I liked it well enough when I saw it.  Okay, some of it was a bit inaccurate, but in general I liked the director's interpretation.  This time around, I couldn't get over how off I thought the portrayals of the characters were.  Becky is much more conniving.  Rawdon is a bit more stupid.  George, though still haughty, has more verve.  Just goes to show why the books are most always superior.

I've moved on to reading Tess of the D'Urbervilles.  The introduction uses the word tragedy several times when describing the novel.  That puts a damper on my enthusiasm.  Still, my mother bet me a bottle of wine that I couldn't finish it.  You can bet I won't lose that bet!

Speaking of wine, I laughed at my parents when they had wine and cereal for supper.  Tonight I'm having beer and cereal.  it gets even stranger when you consider I started off the meal with left over sushi from lunch.
