"Power Play" fic and "She Will Be Loved" vid thoughts
protection, possession, obsession. varying degrees of care, each increasing in intensity and danger.
what is it to care?
is it when you make one person's needs your own as well? is it when you take every measure to assure a person's safety? or is it when you want nothing to come into a certain person's way; no obstacle, no challenge, none whatsoever...except you? maybe it's when you track that person's every move, every word, every interaction, sometimes hinting that someone IS watching out for her, right?
but when does caring turn deadly, fatal, dangerous, either to you or that person? when does one step over certain boundaries and start invading another's privacy?

just viewed the new CHLEX vid. whoa! they truly did justice to the song. what song, you ask? SHE WILL BE LOVED! it was sooooo good, i'm rendered speechless and want to gush at the same time. hehehe. here's a little something inspired by the vid and the song. *sigh*
She Will Be Loved: CHLEX Video
Chloe falls for the wrong men, always almost ending up getting killed by her supposed "love interests"; heat-sucking jock [though not in the vid], insane telekinetic artist and homicidal boy duplicates. But thanks to Clark, she gets to live another day. He eventually drops the dense farmboy act and starts to see Chloe as more than a bestfriend. Just when things were looking up, the PINK prevails in respect to Clark's priorities, and he ends up pushing Chloe away.
As Clark was previously oblivious to Chloe's feelings for him, so did her reporter's instincts failed to detect Lex's devotion. It hurts him so much to always be the one to walk in on Chloe while she's in the middle of a smoochfest.
["Why couldn't that be me?", he thought. "Oh, yeah. Clark, Pete Ross, and my undeniable darkness. I'll only end up hurting her. Musn't show emotion. Emotions are weaknesses. Emotions are...who am i kidding?!...God, I'm pathetic."]
As the good friend that he is, Lex advises her to be careful and wary of those supposedly interested highschool boys, yet she rebuffs him each and every time. Yet after every close call, she turns to him. He doesn't say "I told you so", he doesn't taunt her for making those mistakes. He's just...there. He will be, whether Chloe needs someone to consult, to banter with, whatever. How could she be so blind?! Despite Lex's trust issues regarding his emotions, the way he compensates should have been enough of a clue for Chloe. Lex will always be there for her, that's a given. Now if only she doesn't wait till the last minute to ask for his help, then she might see past Lex's repressed smiles and touches, and start appreciating him for what he really is in her life. And she'll eventually notice how important she is in his.
