things I'd like to tell my 17 year old self

From one of the tumblrs I'm following. :)

1. Go ahead and love Literature. Don't worry about it. And don't worry too about how you're gonna ever be a "good doctor" just because you love lit, drawing, music and all that artsy stuff.

2. Your canoeing teammates: stick with them, and if it's even possible, spend more time with them because you're never gonna get such an awesome team again.

3. You should probably also get to know your classmates better, because you'll still be hanging out with some of them in time to come.

4. Your besties and your twin are God-given treasures. Treasure that even more. Don't edge them out of your life just because you're too into the moment.

5. See that boy over there with the nice smile? He'll ruin your life next year. Do NOT talk to him. Instead, talk to that other boy with the nice smile over there. You and he are probably kindred spirits and he deserves to be more than a substitute friend for your later ruined friendship.

6. Play the piano. Do not let your music teacher slip away because of some unknown reason. In fact, take that book and make her correct your technique and play until even your toes are as agile as your fingers.

7. Don't worry about school work. Oxford University is a dream that will never come true. Really. Just... try not to fall asleep in class so much though. It will help you to study smart instead of studying hard.

8. Medicine, however, is worth whatever time you spend trying to make yourself a better person or studying. On that note, don't be so scared to talk to your friends' friends. It's a good way of improving your communication skills. And don't get so scared thinking about it. You'll have plenty of time later to do that.

9. Your parents are pretty darned right. Even if it kills you to admit it. Talk to your brother more. It's okay, everyone else is busy too so don't make excuses.

10. Trust God to see you through it all. He is amazing and faithful and will never let you down. :)
