Last night I was at the British Film Institute watching the premiere of "The A Word".
Written and adapted by Peter Bowker ("Marvellous" and "Flesh and Blood" to name but a few) from an Israeli drama "Yellow Peppers" it tells the story of an extended family coming to terms with their son's diagnosis of autism.
It touched a raw nerve with me as several of the scenes were all too familiar to me.
I got a minute applause from the audience and the panel when I spoke and mentioned that autism wasn't just a child's condition and that I was diagnosed with autism just before my 40th birthday.
For those living in the UK, "The A Word" begins on 22nd March at 9.00 p.m. on BBC1
