Only certain places or one specific person bothers

I've been dealing with this for a long time, but only now thought to post here.
So.
Loud chewing. Like the sound of tuna fish salad being stirred in a bowl. For some reasons, I can stand anybody's,...except my dad's. he's louder than any distraction you can think of to drown out the sound. TV, air conditioner, microwave, over-the-stove fan, whatever. It doesn't matter if I put my headphones on, he'll ignore them and try to talk to me anyway, after the lecture about "there could be a fire and I wouldn't hear him telling me to get out because of those things in your ears". And it seems like he always sits the closest to me or facing my direction. It's so bad I've had to go upstairs while he's eating, until he's done. But like I said, it's only him. Anyone else could have the loudest nastiest chewing in the world and I wouldn't mind. But his? OH DEAR GOD HELP US ALL. Anybody else find their quirks person- or place-specific?
