Kelli Stapleton cites "battle fatigue" as the main reason she tried to kill herself and her daughter Issy

How in the hell do you all deal with shit like this? This happened in Michigan, not far from where my family used to summer, and I can't help but be furious, on almost a personal level. The article and the experts are so fucking ignorant. The mother is a blogger who runs a blog about her daughter that she's called "Status Woe" - because of course, every minute of dealing with an autistic child is woeful and burdensome. Fuck you, bitch. And the comments are all about "I understand, taking care of an autistic is so hard!"

I know that the short answer is 'don't read the comments' ... but how do you all deal with ignorant, hateful attitudes when you can't get away from them? This woman needed help and services, but when she didn't get it, she should have called the cops, the paramedics, whoever, at the first G-ddamn thought of hurting herself or her child. And I can't help but be convinced that if this child was NT, people would be asking for this mother to get the death penalty. < sarcasm > But what do we matter, right? We're just freaks, we can't feel pain or anger, especially if we can't talk. < /sarcasm >

I'm just feeling angry and hurt and sadder than I have been in a long time. Every time I think things might be improving, the populace at large reminds me why I loathe most people.
