Oh hai!

I don't have a long intro post in hand (that may come later), though I do have a few questions.

1. Is there a Aspergers community just for girls?

And 2. This may be a little controversial, but I have a poll for the community.

Poll

politics, gender, username: u - w

Moderate towards libral with some ecomony leanings towards libertarian.

As for a community just for girls. This is freaking Aspergers on LJ I am assuming that the majority here are women and self-dx

I'm not self-dxed. I hate when people assume I am.

It's alright, it's often hard to tell over the internet.

You're substantially correct. Most members of this community are women, and most members are self-diagnosed. I'm not quite sure that a majority are both, but it's quite possible.

It seems the members I've seen so far are mostly boys...huh. I do have problems with self diagnosed, but I understand that not everyone can get a official DX.

You have a right to react negatively to the presumption that you're self-diagnosed. If you reject the self-diagnoses of others, you're going to have an awfully rough time here. But it won't last long. The only requirement we recognize for calling oneself autistic is that one be autistic, not that one be certified by some outside authority.

I'm sorry my last comment wasn't quite coherent, I'll try to fix that in this one.

I don't reject the self-diagnoses of others. The problem I have with some self-diagosed autistics (and even some official diagnosed!) is that they use it as an excuse to be an asshole. The more I think about it, the more I think I should not just have a problem with self dxes, but with all of autistics/aspergers who use it as an excuse.

Apologies.

Perhaps I am lucky. Have yet to see anyone use self-diagnosis as excuse for being an arsehole. Have seen near constant claims that people do so.

Find this curious, have suspicions about.

I agree 100%. To my knowledge, that kind of excuse is never made in this community.

In this community, maybe not. But I've seen it in others, therefore I'm wary.

Not in this community here, but I have certainly had a recent interaction with someone using autism ("their disability") as an excuse for hate mongering. Luckily quite a few people spoke against him by that point.

The self-dx reason is probably why I am gonna leave soon. I really have no tolerance for them well the ones that are under 35 actually. I do have some self-Dx friends in RL and Online the one online is working for a clinical/legit DX the RL one is over fifty and her insurance can't cover it.

I'll by it if the excuse is legit enough. But I am starting to wonder if Aspergers is the new otherkin or something.

I'm 18? But I'm not self-dxed. Don't hate meeeee D:

It seems to be. I really hate assholes who claim they have it to act like assholes.

I am going to bold this for brevity
I am not accusing you of Self-dxing my rants are in general

Again that is reason why I avoid a lot of AS comms. I only joined to post my rant. which no one cares about

You joined this community for the sole purpose of posting that rant? Of course no one cares about it! No one here has any idea of the background. It was all about transactions that occurred elsewhere and that involve people that none of us know.

Feel free to stick around anyway. Maybe you'll come to like it here.
