I hope this is an ok question to ask.

When I was confirmed, the psychologist asked me if I ever break things when I'm angry. I said no. I don't like the noise. This is true, but I was wondering if anyone has any thought on what it means, or doesn't mean?

anger

I am unclear as to what your question is referring to

If I break things or not.

When I get frustrated or angry, I can't stop myself from breaking things. It doesn't matter what is in my hands at the time. I will crush it, smash it, throw it. If I don't have something in my hands I will kick whatever is closest to me. I'll punch walls, doors anything just to release the frustration somehow. I'm guessing this is what the psychologist was asking about

I wouldn't say it's "not an Asperger's Trait". Just not a COMMON one. You never know, after all.

My boyfriend's done this on occasion. Then again, he's ADHD.

Perhaps it's just a standard question. Perhaps that Dr. has seen a lot of folks with less ability to control and appropriately vent their anger lately.

I generally WANT to break things when I'm angry, but I don't because I don't want to have to clean up after myself or deal with needing to replace things. Instead I beat the tar out of my husband's punching bag with a stick or throw non-breakables at other non-breakables. Honestly, it's not nearly as satisfying as one fantastic crash but it gets the job done when I need to work the angry out and I don't have any expendable shatter-ables and an empty dumpster handy.

I can relate to the feeling of not wanting to deal with it afterwards.

In a way I think I'm scared of my anger and try to suppress it as much as possible.

This is me too. Except I go after the pillows.

I've wielded/beaten many a pillow with great fury, but ever since I bought that "heavy bag" for my husband (it was on his Christmas wish list) it's become the number one safe item for abusing when I have to let the angry out. I can punch it, kick it, beat it with a stick and the fact that it's generally "standing human" shaped is quite handy sometimes.

My all-time favorite still has to be breaking glass. It's not terribly loud and a good shatter-spray has a distinctively final sound that takes the edge of quickly with it's wondrous tinkling of ever so satisfying obliteration... it's just dangerously messy so I never do it.
