I finally joined so I might as well introduce myself.
Greeting and salutations!
I finally decided that my lurking at this community for the past several months has passed into the stalkeresque and voyeuristic, so I decided to join.
I have mild asperger's, mild asthma and enjoy long walks on the beach.
At this point some of you have probably noticed that humor is my coping method of choice; but oh! it's far more than that dear ones, humor is in fact my most lasting perservation to date, starting when I was barely able to walk. (Ask me about whoopee cushions)
I have always felt a deep sense of empathy with autistic people (which really should have been a clue) because they seemed so similar to me. It wasn't until I looked up the clinical symptoms of autism, that I discovered asperger's. Reading through the diagnosis I kept thinking 'this doesn't just sound like me, this IS me'
So of course I found my mother and read her the diagnosis as well (when i doubt go get mummy). The first thing she said was "Wow, that does sound like you."
The second thing she said was "You still have to clean your room."
P.S. Spell check doesn't seem to like the word asperger's and gives you all kinds of fun words, like 'Osprey'.
