I thought that since my LD poll showed NLD to be common among aspie with LDs I wanted to see if this was true for all aspies in the community.

Well I guess everyone will soon see.

Asperger's is a condition when you never develop certain abilities or outlooks that are common in the general population and necessary for the building of society. Mainly issues communicating (often is reading nonverbal communication), understanding social guidelines, and narrowed, intense, repetitive interests and behaviors. Hence we tend to have an easier time at some things and a much harder time at other.

A NLD involves visual-spatial, intuitive, organizational, evaluative, and holistic processing functions. Hence, learning for the world around you, not from what is being told to you. There are parts of this I'm better at than anyone I know. Visual-spatial is easy for me, to a point that I use it to learn anything. Intuitive, however, is a different story. There are things that I learn intuitively with no problem, but most things involving communication and social interaction, I have no intuition about at all.

So I'd say Asperger's can be the cause of some NLDs, just as ADHD can, but isn't a learning disability in and of itself.

Anyway, that's my understanding.
