Some observations on NLD/Asperger's
I noticed that people have asked in the past about the difference between NLD and AS
I have done a lot of research and have came up with some ideas about this I'd like to share.
NLD is of course a learning disorder which Asperger's isn't really best described that way but the differences are deeper than that.
First off... IQ tests and learning and cognitive profile.
My IQ is around 110 or so with around 130 Verbal and around 80 performance.
That large gap is common among those with NLD and at least a statistically important gap is pretty much required.My theory on why this gap between scores is so common among aspies is the comorbid rate is somewhere around 45% to 80% with most estimates around 51% of those with AS also having NLD.
The biggest differences can be seen in a few areas.
Emotions,Relatedness,Empathy, all of these things are lessened in Asperger's to an extent but not in pure NLD.Of course people have different levels of empathy or of being emotionally driven no matter what the label but this is a general thing.
Special Interests...Big one....many of those with NLD have interests but not like Aspies have special interests but this is once again a general statement
