So I am now an official permanent resident of Canada, complete with all the benefits. Huzzah!
The trip to Halifax was pretty nice. Elania did extremely well during the trip, and though she got a bit cranky and tired a few times, she never really got too bad and I actually got to enjoy myself. We hit a few shops, picked up a few things here and there (I'm sure Clayton will detail the swag in his post :P), and just generally enjoyed being in the city again. Seeing our friend Paul again was awesome as well. Elania loved him (she's met him once before but was too young to remember), and was sad to say goodbye when it was time for us to drop him off and go meet up with Craig. Dinner with Craig was had at Montana's, following up hitting a few more shops over in Bayer's Lake.
After eating, it was time to head home. We were all tired, and both Clayton and I took turns driving once we got almost as far as the causeway. We arrived home at about 2:30am or so, and Elania woke up refreshed and ready for her day. Ha! So, after getting her back to sleep, we were finally able to collapse into bed.
On the drive home, I realized a few things. So far this year, there have been quite a few major changes in my life that have really been holding me back. The most obvious, of course, being the immigration stuff finally being handled. I can now work, go to school, and get free medical care. Other things include finally learning/being comfortable driving the Jetta, and being in a play that will put me back on stage for the first time in 7 years (thus, helping me get over the paralyzing shyness that has been so dominant in my life lately). Things are looking up. Funny that I hadn't really noticed until now.
