Northwest Arkansas to Southeast Missouri.
Mom and dad drove up with me three weekends ago. It was during an ugly ice storm in the area and we took the first house we looked at (which also had the first landlords that ansered the phone on that Saturday), where dad managed to use his magic eyebrow to change the "no pets" policy. I packed Sunday (with Mom's help), Monday (with Dad), Tuesday (with Jenni) and Wednesday and we loaded the uhaul Wednesday night. Dad called in a bunch of his big strong SCA friends to help - they were a godsend. Thursday morning Natalia made Dad and I a great breakfast (I slept in their guest room that night) and we headed up to Missouri. Dad in the uhaul, me in the prius with the dog, Archie. Because Archie required frequent stops, I arrived in town about 5 minutes after dad (he was still backing the truck into the driveway). We got there a little too late in the day to get the water turned on that day, but set it up to be turned on the next day. Dad took me to the supercenter and we loaded up on enough food and supplies to last me until I get my relocation money from the company (which, haha, I still haven't gotten, I just finished jumping through the hoops today and it should be direct deposited shortly)...food that can be made without the use of a microwave.
Dad really helped me get set up in town, he even got the cable company to come out that Saturday to set up my cable and network. Let me repeat that, the cable company came out on a Saturday, the very next day, for no additional charge...after we were told they were closed on weekends and couldn't get someone out until late the next week. The cable guy was very polite the next day, but you could tell he was confused. The only thing dad couldn't help me on was the DMV, they are impervious to smoosing, dad eyebrows, sunshine, and puppies.
Tyler came up Saturday evening. He managed to shave half an hour off his time and arrived in only 5.5 hours! Dad and I had unloaded as much of the light stuff as we could, and Tyler helped unload everything else. It was really great being seen off on my big move by my two favorite guys.
