Joe turned on his phone this evening and had a whole stack of messages waiting for him, all from the VA in Des Moines. He'd sent an email last night, just asking if they happened to have any more positions that would soon be available, etc...and it was then that the HR folks there at the VA realized the mixup. Yes, a mixup, big time.
Apparently the VA is actually hiring techs for TWO almost identical positions, and their system sent an automated email to Joe saying he didn't get the job. This is the email Joe received last Saturday morning. BUT the email was in reference to the *other* position! He doesn't get that job, obviously, since he can't be hired for BOTH - but he DOES still have the job they originally offered him. Yeah, it's confusing! :P The HR people there felt really bad about the mixup, heh...and rightfully so, IMO. We're just thankful it got sorted out as soon as it did!
It's a bit bewildering to have this whole on, off, on situation, lol. Definitely a chance to learn flexibility and trusting God's love and wisdom no matter how confusing things are! As exhausting and stressful as it all has been, I'm thankful for these lessons and hope we have learned them well.
Looks like we'll be making a last-minute trip down to Des Moines tomorrow for apartment hunting, most likely spending the night with my family, and then going back to Des Moines for more apartment viewing on Saturday. Lord willing we'll be able to find a place we're happy with and can afford, and will be able to sign on it before heading back. These next few weeks are going to be crazy...but exciting, too. It's wonderful to see God answering so many prayers and bringing things together as He has so far. Thanks to all of you who have been sticking by us in this journey - means a lot. :)
