I will remember

Gem of the day:
And I said, This is my infirmity:
but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.
I will remember the works of the LORD:
surely I will remember Thy wonders of old.
I will meditate also of all Thy work,
and talk of Thy doings.

...who is so great a God as our God?
Thou art the God that doest wonders:
Thou hast declared Thy strength among the people.

~Psalm 77:10-14~

So you have a problem - an infirmity or trial of some sort. How do you respond? The Psalmist sets a good example here. Acknowledge reality, lay out all the cards and be honest with God. This is hard for me, Father. I'm weak. I'm vulnerable. I feel like I'm not going to make it. This is my infirmity.

BUT - don't stay there. Look at the next verses: I will remember...I will remember...I will remember...I will meditate...and [I will] talk of Thy doings. There's not a single one of us who doesn't have a ton of things to be thankful for if we just take an honest look at what God has done for us in the past. We need to purposely remember and meditate on these things - and talk about them with others. Verbal praise is powerful.

Then, before we know it, our perspective has totally changed. Sure, the problem still exists, but now our eyes are on our all-powerful Father instead. Who is so great a God as our God? Thou art the God that doest wonders... PTL! With God there are no problems, only plans. He's on the throne! All is well.

Daddy put in a lot of long hours and finally got the gravity table up and running by the end of December - this is the grain cleaner he and mother picked up on their trip out west last fall. It still requires some adjustments, but we're hoping it will save us a lot of time when it's fully working.

We were swamped with grain orders in early-mid December! Here's a stack going out one day...I think we actually added a few more to the pile before post office time.

I found an easy custard/pudding recipe and tried it out - yummy! The little dishes are the ones Grandma always used for custard, so they're special to me. Eating out of them again brought back lots of memories.

"I hope you're having a better day than I am..." :-|

Meet Mr. Snowman. How do you like that fuzzy green hair?

He's a troglodyte. :-D

Patience to the rescue!

The caving expedition ended in a furious snowball fight - fun times. I aimed a little too high here...oops! ;-)

Daddy bought a bunch of little hardware stuff that he wanted sorted, so he made it into a game. We all got scored on how many we had of each kind, which ones were most unique, etc. It was a creative way to get the job done, and we enjoyed it.

It's snowing! :-)

One blizzardy day a few weeks ago, the neighbors got stuck in a drift on their way to town...so the boys went out to rescue them.

Frozen fog is so beautiful on the trees... This is the view from the south window in our girls' room.

We played games on New Year's...it really was more exciting than this looks, LOL.

Then we watched an Andy Griffith DVD on the laptop.

A few weeks later...Poor Mr. Snowman has suffered decapitation, but he's still smiling.

Whipped cream - a whole field full. :-D

Someone has gone before us...

I'm so glad the caucus is behind us now. Here's Daddy that evening, talking about Ron Paul.

Need an idea to help summer seem a little nearer? Here's something Daniel tried. Turn on a fan for to make it extra authentic. ;-)

Annie came over to tune our piano last week. She tried to fix the pedal sqeak, too, but couldn't figure it out.

We talked Annie into staying for supper, too, and afterwards jammed for a while. She does amazing backup on piano!

Video clips of our evening:
~ Cheese [1.5 MB wmv] - We've been playing this song for years, and I still can't catch all the chords, LOL! But just listen to Annie - wow.
~ Daddy Sang Bass [3 MB wmv] - I didn't realize I was swinging my legs this much, haha. This is always a fun song.
