"We have a war tomorrow," Cat said to the roof of the tent, pulling the blankets up over herself and leaving them loose over him.

This is a great line. I really like the moment this fic depicts, and I like that you give it a hopeful but still ambiguous ending. Cat and Ned are really believable as a couple who work together - I particularly like the detail of exploring each other's scars.

This is lovely, everyone is so in character, and it's such a plausible AU that Ned would support Stannis' claim - they're so alike. And the Northern fangirl in me loved Umber and Karstark's cameos.

UM SO HOW MUCH DO I LOVE THIS? SO, SO MUCH.

First of all I'm super excited you picked this scenario because I've been wanting a Ned-lives-AU for basically FOREVER, so this made me jump up and down and squee because while things aren't right yet and there's a long road ahead, maybe, just maybe, things will turn out less awful for our bb Starks. It feels silly to start at the end but it goes back to your (WONDERFUL) closing line: He slept with her agains him and his dreams full of hope. HOPE!! THERE'S HOPE!!!

Everyone is so, so in character here, and you so beautifully portrayed what I think is my favorite thing about Ned and Cat - they are each other's strength. They ebb and flow with each other, they aren't afraid to lean on one another and need one another, but they're both just incredibly strong people and it's just such a relationship of EQUALS. And it was so perfectly done in this fic.

Catelyn facing down Cersei Lannister, sword in hand, was more pleasant than the worries in his head. UM I LOVE THIS JUST FYI. Basically ( ... )
