I live in this AU in my head quite a bit >.> and it's 10000 kinds of awesome to have such gorgeous astounding art to go with it, with a story so well put together and asdkgkjglgllle and so on!
Re: *______*misstopiaDecember 17 2010, 06:03:22 UTC
I like Cat + Tywin better than Cat + Jaime in this scenario (which was my first option thinking about such an AU) because Jaime's KG vows are pesky though Tywin would want him to be his heir anyway and IDK maybe he would want to avoid remarrying 'cause of Joanna but Cat and Tywin are just such ... such aristocrats, more than any other lord and lady, I think that was part of the allure. And Jaime, I love him but he knows nothing XD Being near Tywin is being near the central computer (and Cat and Jaime can always resume their grudge match on the side).
Of course if Tywin still dies at the end of ASOS the fun has a particular time limit, but yeah it's very potent IMHO :D

PS I saw that little Cat/Bronn you snuck in there. Don't think I didn't. Also, I love the little tapestry of the Lannister knights going to the Red Keep, is that the siege of King's Landing from Robert's War? Love the medieval style!
Re: *______*matitabluDecember 27 2010, 00:41:49 UTC
Oh yes, the tapestry is actually a mashup of this and this, the latter also gave me the idea of putting the seven pointed star in Baratheon colors over some of the banners, as if to suggest that the Lannister party was supporting the Baratheon claim as legitimate? Idk that's what I think real medieval folks would have done, Westerosi people seem to be less concerned with religious validation but WHATEVER, it seemed to make some sense. I actually wanted to put some huge ass dragon mosaic on the floor of Cat's room, to contrast with the tapestry that it's just hung there, to be spotted fully only in the penultimate panel of page 3. But then I realized that it would have been too redundant with all the wall decorations and hard to fit in the other panels, so I went with a plain floor there.
PS I saw that little Cat/Bronn you snuck in there. Don't think I didn't. *coughs* I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT MADAM *coughs*
Re: *______*misstopiaDecember 27 2010, 01:47:51 UTC
Yeah it seems like in Westeros the Faith took a backseat until AFFC, I guess Martin wanted to emphasize that people rely a lot more on religion in tough times? Still I can totally see the 7 pointed star thing as a matter of ceremony/procedure, and boy I bet a dragon mosaic would've been stunning!!! But totally understand why you didn't, maybe her room just isn't one of the fancier ones :P

Aw, I'm so glad you liked it :) I knew your birthday was around mid December (I obviously suck at keeping track of birthdays) but it was totally casual that this got posted right on the 17th, at least on my part, I don't know if the mod knew :)
I really liked the prompt because this scenario never occurred to me, but suddenly it made so much sense, and had too many interesting implications to be illustrated with a standalone drawing. On the other hand, I had to stop myself from elaborating *too much* because otherwise I knew it would just have gotten longer and longer and you know, it's all fine and dandy when you sketch thumbnail-sized storyboards and write lines of dialogue, then actually drawing and coloring the real thing becomes more of a complicated business, lol.
But I actually conceived this as a sort of flash sideways full-on AU (this should have gone in the a/n but I forgot -_-;;) where many details are different; a butterfly effect sort of thing if you like. Like, Cat might have avoided losing her sanity because someone

Let's call it a happy coincidence :D
I once tried to write Tywin/Cat for violaswamp for one of the past rounds here, and had to stop because as you say there's a lot of timeline things to map out and butterfly effect chains of consequence to consider. But it's really ripe, yes, also Cat would be at the sight where Sansa last was before Petyr disappeared with her, or actually there might be some overlap time with Sansa's stay at KL so they might be there together, also with Petyr. I avoided this myself because I didn't think Petyr would still nab Sansa if Cat was there, and if he made designs on Cat then that might minimize interaction with the Lannisters which was what I wanted to focus on. And so I had Cat hanging out at the Twins for a while until a prisoner exchange or something would be arranged, and that was where my fic was set at, before I dumped it. Another juicy thing would be her meeting up with Tyrion again, considering how they parted
