sorry I'm so late to the party... RL has been crazy lately.

the general stuff

Name: Kate

Age: 25

Location: New England, USA

3 things you love: sudoku and crossword puzzles, punctuation, and anything from the UK (except marmite. gross. true story, I once thought it was honey and put it in my tea. yeah.)

3 things you hate: most isms, the sound of velcro, humidity

A line from the last song you've been listening to: ummm seeing as I just listened to a solid like 5 hours of my Bollywood playlist and I don't want to offend anyone with me terrible transliteration of Hindi lyrics, I'll go with the last bit I recall from the Olympics: we can be heroes, just for one day

Your other fandoms: None really - I'm fairly new to this fandom and I love it so much that I don't really want to venture out... If I were to sally forth and join other fandoms, I'd probably go for HP and LotR to start. I'm always open to recommendations!!

Your interests (hobbies, passions, etc.): watching random movies and tv (loving Foyle's War on Netflix...), reading, writing, getting my hands dirty in the garden, art history (specifically ancient and medieval art), discussing random academic things or pop culture, mythology, folklore, and literature

What kind of stuff do you post about? Right now, just fic, and I'll probably only leave it at that.

What kind of friends are you looking for? Nice ones? People who write fun things that I can comment on? None of my real life friends have read asoiaf, so I'm desperate for other people to talk with about casting, theories, and random shipping. I promise, I'm very friendly and leave fun comments!

Do you have a Twitter/Tumblr/Goodread account? nope. Tumblr scares me you guys... there are gifs (yay) but there seems to be so much hostility and character bashing (boo).

the asoiaf stuff

Have you read the books, have you watched the show? Yes and yes.

Your favourite POV? Tough one, but I'm going to go with Bran.

Which character that does't have a POV deserves one? An Other. That would be so mind-blowingly awesome. (lydzi wrote a wonderful drabble from their POV for the third GOT Exchange comment fic meme and it is my head canon).

Favorite characters: All of the Starks and Lannisters, everyone north of the Wall, the Reeds, Varys

Favorite ships: tbh, I originally came to this fandom through SanSan, but then I discovered Jaime/Sansa and it was like an EPIPHANY, and now SanSan just doesn't cut it for me. I love me some Jon/Sansa too. Or any combination of Starks + love and happiness and romantic endings

Least favourite characters and ships: I don't like reading the older Greyjoys, there's something about them that just doesn't interest me... Not a fan of Ramsay, mainly because I don't think there's that much character development (he's evil, you're supposed to agree that he's evil, but why is he evil?). Otherwise, I love everyone.

Which king would you bend the knee to? QUEEN IN THE NORTH.

Who do you stan for (actors or characters)? Jaime, Jaime, and more Jaime. And Sansa. And like the entire cast, mmmm Stephen Dillane.

Three things that are your personal head canon:

#1 Varys is up to a bigger agenda... maybe he's a Blackfyre? or a secret Targ? I don't know, but no way is he as simple as he seems.

#2 Benjen is Coldhands

#3 The Others are good, R'hllor is bad. Calling it now.

Aaaand post your favorite gifs:

I KNOW RIGHT?!?!

There's an awesome fic at AO3 (The North Remembers) where it's implied that the Others aren't quite as bad as we think they are, and I was like YES THANK YOU.

I have this feeling that the whole story is really just about the Others vs. R'hllor and all of the people of Westeros and Essos are just pawns in their epic game.

Oh I think I remember seeing that fic but didn't get round to reading. Thanks for the reminder. The more I hear about this R'hllor chap the less I like him: and I started out thinking he was dreadful because the burning of the Seven on Dragonstone was really, really unpleasant to read for some reason... It just felt wrong.

Your Marmite story made me laugh. I tried it for the first time about a month ago and it was the weirdest experience - I was like, "Dear Gods, HOW salty??" and then "... Why can't I stop eating this? It's making my face hurt. But... MORE." Marmite is the real English disease.
