Yesterday was a good day. It was such because I saw my giggle sister. It is still hard to fathom that the person that I was attached to every summer is no longer in the same city, let alone same state. When I went to school in Fort Collins it was hard enough for us; college tends to exert its control over one’s life, but the next summer I couldn’t believe that my best friend since forever was moving. The following summer, there was a good deal on plane tickets so I got to head out and see what her “new” life was like. Our time went as it always had, which made me very happy. Now it is her time to be here. It is a lot more difficult because there are many people here who want to see her (compared to my going out to see one person), but so far we’ve still had time to stare into space and ramble on about everything, which, in my opinion, is what best friends are for. Friday and Saturday are going to be George and George days, and this George is rather excited. :)
There was a time where we didn’t really talk about “friend” stuff, but we’ve both gotten over that awkward, angsty teenager stage, and can be shoulders and ears for each other. Luckily we haven’t gotten over giggling at pathetic things. Even though there is some fraying in another group, I can still see a decorative well, take a phone picture and send it, soon getting a reply with lots of “he”s in it. I know there has been a lot of stuff that she has had to deal with, and I don’t know what I would have done in her place. She’s grown and healed. She’s also realized that you can still be someone’s best buddy and support them through tough times even though you are far away. Her buddy already knew that.
Things have changed and are changing, but she will forever be my bff.
I can’t wait to do circles in the pool.
