RL Kicks Ass and Harry Potter (No Spoilers!)

This has been a weird month.  Really weird.  I'd been having a lot of computer problems.  Things were crashing, pages wouldn't load, etc.  Finally figured that mess out.

I had pre-ordered "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" months ago.  Well, surprise ... it showed up in my mailbox on Tuesday, July 17th!  The release date was July 21st.  So, naturally I started reading it right away.  The next day around 5:00 p.m., I get a phone call from Scholastic Books, the U.S. publisher.  They had my name, phone number, the name of the internet store from which I'd purchased it, and my email address!  They asked me if I had received the book.  I told them yes.  They asked me to set it aside and not read it until Saturday.  Then they told me they're going to send me a $50.00 gift certificate for their internet store and a special Harry Potter tee shirt!  I thought it was a joke, but it's not.  My local news had a story about a young girl who got the same phone call and promise of gifts.  I'll believe it when I see it.  Haven't received anything yet.

Then on Thursday, my A/C died.  I woke up at 7:30 a.m. and it was 80 degrees in the house.  Called the dealer I bought it from.  They sent a man out.  By that time it was about 86 degrees.  Outside, it was over 90.  The compressor had a leak that couldn't be fixed.  Had to buy a new unit.  They couldn't install it until Tuesday.  The man refilled the compressor with freon, then came back on his *OWN TIME* to refill it three more times.  (Heat index had been running between 100 and 106 degrees.)  Yes, there are truly decent people in this world!  My new unit is working just fine now.  YAY!!!!

Saturday, I did my wash, threw the stuff in the dryer and turned it on.  It hummed loudly then sounded like someone was inside the back of the machine beating it with a heavy chain.  The heating element was working and the drum was turning, but something was obviously wrong.  So, I brought the wet wash into the house, set a ladder up in the bathtub of the guest bathroom and hung wet laundry all over it and the towel bars.  Hung the rest of it in the master bath.  Finished Harry Potter later that day.  It was really good, but I'm sad that the series had to end with just seven books.

This past Tuesday, I received "The Last Mimzy" DVD.  Really been wanting to see that movie.  Just as I get into the house from the mailbox, a severe thunderstorm hit.  I had to wait three hours for the storm to pass before I could watch the movie.  I really liked it.

So, anyway, I haven't posted anything in a long time because everything has just been so nuts.  I still have to call someone to fix the dryer, but won't be able to do it until next Tuesday.  I'm also fighting a virus now.  There's been a lot of minor crap, too, but nothing worth mentioning.  Hopefully, things will settle down next week.  I'm so damn tired.  It's raining again, making me want to fall asleep.
