300 = War in Iraq?
So I was thinking about spartans this morning while I was taking a shower... ahem. I had the thought that there are a lot of parallels between 300 and the war in Iraq.

- King Leonidas was a well-respected, competent leader
- King Leonidas led his armies
- The Battle of Thermopylae included 300 soldiers, none of whom were high school dropouts who were promised career oppurtunities that would allow them to see the world

- King Leonidas did not attack the Hittites, claiming that they provided Persia with significant quantities of Uranium
- King Leonidas didn't defeat the first wave and announce 'Mission Accomplished'
- When Corinth refused to join forces, the Spartans did not rename them "Freedom Columns"
- King Leonidas knows "Internet" is not pluralized
- The Spartan troops did not cause collateral damage in the thousands
- The Spartans had reliable, working equipment from the beginning
- King Leonidas attempted, at least once, to try to talk to Xerxes concerning the war, hoping that the bloodshed could end prematurely.
