Unless you have been hiding from me for the last 6 months or so, you will probably know I really want to do the CELTA course over this summer. I've emailed a couple of places about this and yesterday I got an email from York St. Johns telling me they are planning to run the online course (which is the same as the non online one) for 10-12 weeks starting in September.
However I have also found a non online, full time course running from early September to early October.at a language school in Leeds.
There are pros and cons to both options which I am now going to weigh up in the hopes that some of the lovely and intelligent people I know will give me advice (not that I'm trying to flatter anyone into helping me make up my mind of course ;) hehe)
Online course
Pros
1. I have a longer time span in which to do the course in. It means I can spend some of September actually reading for my third year courses and doing dissertation stuff.
2. There are less travel costs.
3. It will be easier to fit round my other activities.
Cons
1. It will make the first term of third year very busy. In all likelihood it would mean I shall have to give up larp for that term or at least have larp take a back seat.
2. YSJ has said they hope to run it. This is not 100% confirmed.
3. I won't have the certificate by the time I apply for JET (not that I think it will make such difference- I shall still have finished by the time the Japanese Embassy decide they don't want to employ me).
Full time face to face course
Pros
1. This course is going to run. I can apply now.
2. I will be finished by the time term starts.
Cons
1. I won't be able to do any uni work in September.
2. Travel costs extra, especially on top of how much the course is!
3. The course runs through the first week of uni. Granted not much happens in that week but I would still have to talk to my tutors about it.
So opinions? Please?
