Sooooooooooooo....
I had a super awesome Thanksgiving weekend.
Sean's parents came up this week from Pittsfield, so we ended up going to Pacific Beach on Thanksgiving, which was a lot of fun, except that Sean's dad got stung by a Sting Ray (OUCH!) SO he had to wait at the lifeguard station and soak his foot in hot water. It was a nice day at the beach otherwise, nice weather and whatnot. When his foot was feeling a little better, we came back to the apartment and went in the hot tub and pool for a little while, and then got dressed and everything for dinner.
Sean's parents took the us out for a really nice dinner at The Harbor Restaurant in the Seaport Village, near the downtown area of San Diego. The restaurant was right on the Harbor, so there was an amazing view. We all got Turkey with "all the fixin's", and we had pumpkin pie after (although Sean went against the grain and got Cheesecake).
After dinner, Sean his father John and I went to the talkies to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which was AMAZING, even though some parts were kind of rushed through in comparison to the book. Victor Krum was dreamy ::le sigh:: as was Cedric Diggery. The 3 Weasly brothers have become a red-headed emo band, well, not really, but their hair will have you thinking otherwise. The Tri-Wizard tournament is perfectly accurate and is excatly as I pictured it when I first read the book. Definitely my favorite HP movie thus far.
Then on Black Friday, Sean's mom Debbie and I went to the mall, and she bought some things for our apartment. And then I worked at Build-a-Bear. It was craziness. Sean's parents left today, they are both very nice.
I recently read "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris. I started it because I liked the title and cover (a chalk-board), and I ended up liking the book, proving that sometimes you CAN judge a book by it's cover. I also read Blood Canticle by Anne Rice (from the Vampire Chronicles) at the same times at MTPOD. It was alright, not my favorite of hers. Parts interested me, but it was mostly a big bore.
I just read The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger.
For the first time. I was fairly unimppressed, and even though Holden Caulfield sounded like he'd be wicked hot in real life (I found the 6'2"/half-gray-hair thing quite attractive) I feel as if his character didn't develope enough throughout the book. And Salinger left too many questions unanswered, like...
What happened to make him so fucked-up?
Everyone who has compared Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower to Holden has been pretty accurate on that account. But Perks is way better. Obviously.
I just started "Like the Red Panda" by Andrea Seigel, which has been described as the "girl version" of Perks. I have only read 4 pages, so I cannot form an opinion yet.
I have a pile of books by my bed to read in the near future which include The Devil Wears Prada, Things My Mother Doesn't Know, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and the DVD of Mr Fair Lady.
Have you ever heard of Boobah?
If you haven't, let me tell you a little story. This summer, I was at Walmart (aka Hell) with my brother Skanawati. He is 5. And we saw this toy. It wa a blue ball of fuzz with awkwardly short arms and legs and a bizzare head. You pushed it's stomach and he quietly stated "Booooooooooooooooooobah".
My brother started crying.
So naturally, I went online that night and googled Boobah, and I found a frightening website:
http://www.boohbah.com/zone.htmlThis website was seriously created to cater to those who suffer from an LSD/ACID addiction.
There is also a show on PBS which makes no sense to me.
How was everyone's thanksgiving.
