So good, you won't ever know
I never hear it on the radio
Can't hear it on the radio
Coming towards the end of a complete failure of a summer, I'm heading to Lollapalooza this weekend. Should be good, thankfully it's not balls hot out as it was earlier in the week.
Saturday:
12:30-1:30: Nada Surf. Nada is what I know of them.
1:30-2:30 The Go! Team. Saw them last twice last summer. Pure British fun! Dancey hip hop-electronica.
2:30-3:30 Built To Spill/Coheed and Cambria. Not excited for either, but will likely check out the latter.
3:30-4:30 Calexico/Wolfmother/Lyrics Born. I can only see one, unfortunately, I think I'll pick Wolfmother, who seems a modern Led Zeppelin, rather than bay area indie rapper Lyrics Born or country-rock group Calexico.
4:30-5:30 Gnarls Barkley/Sonic Youth. Another tough choice, but I think I'll go "Crazy".
5:00-6:00 Blackalicious playing in between other sets, another tough pick.
5:30-6:30 Dresden Dolls/Smoking Popes; former is fun goth cabaret, latter is local punk band.
6:30-7:30 Common/Flaming Lips. As much as I'd love to see the 'Lips psychedelic slowed-down rock, I'm going with Rashid.
7:30-8:30 Thievery Corporation/New Pornographers. The former would be dancey and fun, but the latter are great Canadian power pop, even though I've seem them once before.
8:30-10 Manu Chao is all well and good, actually I don't know much about this indie group that's been around awhile, but instead I'll be watching Kanye.
Sunday doesn't look quite as awesome as tomorrow shall be, but it should be good nonetheless:
12:00-12:30 Much hyped local indie act What Made Milwaukee Famous. I don't know---Beer?
12:30-1:30 Suburban teenagers The Redwalls channel 60s pop-rock.
1:30-2:30 The Hold Steady. Another indie band I don't know much about.
2:30-3:30 As much as I'd love to see a one-man jam band/singer-songwriter in Ben Kweller, I'll be checking out bluegrass act Nickel Creek.
3:30-4:30 Several acts I'm unfamiliar with; Andrew Bird (though I've certainly heard his name), 30 Seconds To Mars, Pepper, The New Amsterdams.
4:30-5:30 Matisyahu/The Shins. Aaack, another tough choice. Since I've seen The Shins before, I'll head for the Jewish reggae star.
5:00-6:00 Reverend Horton Heat/Of Montreal. Which Georgia act do I pick? The funwheeling rockabilly guy who has been around awhile, or the Athens indie band who are great live? I'll go with the the unfamiliar and listen to a Reverend on a sunday.
6:30-7:30 Queens of the Stone Age/Wilco. As much as I'd like to see the modern rockers, I'll go with the local pick who I've seen twice before, Mr Tweedy and Wilco.
7:30-8:30 Blues Traveler/Broken Social Scene. Sorry Mr Popper, I'm going scene.
8:15-9:45. No competition here, just Red Hot Chili Peppers to close out the fest.
