So yesterday Rory tells me a guy e-mailed to see if he could use our
music in a film project he is working on. I asked Rory a few questions and then did some research on my own. It turns out, it is not a film project exactly, though may turn into one. So what is it you may ask? It is videos online and an ad campaign for a candidate in Washington DC for the position of shadow senator (yes, this is a real position....I didn't know about it till I looked it up). It was an art project mixed with politics. I start thinking: hey, this is pretty cool. I read more about it in the Washington DC post or whatevers online version. The videos attracted some attention and now Damien, the guy behind the project, is actually running for the position. All the while still using the video and ad tactics that started out as an art project: a fake campaign. He brings up some really really great topics that don't get talked about much. He is running on a Libertarian ticket (which for those of you that don't know: I support). Anyways, our music is not in anything as of yet, and really I don't know in what way he plans to use it....but I support his project and campaign 100%. You can check out his videos
here.
In other, yet similar, news: Glider is releasing anew album. I took it to the printers yesterday. It is an album of unreleased tracks from 2003 - 2008. This is not the album that we have been working hard for the last 1.5 years to finish. It is odds and ends that we have collected over the years. I think it sounds great though and I hope people like it. It is 13 tracks, 3 of which are remixes. It features photography by Christy Romanik (
autumn_lull) as well. She will also be doing the photography for the new full length, whenever we finish it. The new disc is titled Breathe the Heartbeat and will be available in 3 - 4 weeks. I don't have a specific date yet. more information will be forthcoming.
Have a good long weekend everyone!
