I WANT TO LOOK AT YOU

Gabble me on a few topics
I'd like to pick your brain on this enterprise of poeming
and on whether there is such a thing as poetry
that matters to you or whether it is so far from your sphere
as to appear laughable or even whether there is such thing
as a sphere in which poetry matters in a real solid way
really and truly like in a way that could save a life
or cook a meal or mend a bone or sift a politics into sense
enough to stop a war. Also I need to know your opinion
of flowers and symbols and architecture too
because this is all relevant to the bigger poem of
whatever this is, the poem of how I write or how you read
the poem of this here topic or the poem simply of how
to read. I don't mean to deconstructuralize this
but truly I want to know what you think: whether
there is possibility in this or not, and if so or not so
then how that fits as an arrow nocked from your life
into mine and is it the kind that can split the shaft
of the last arrow. That being any other person's arrow.
Or whether there is such thing as an arrow anyway
or do we only feel the arrow we imagine or shoot
what we imagine is shootable. I honestly want to know
so much about you let's go ahead and look at this brain
of yours look somehow I am opening your thoughts
without knowing who you are? A poem is not doing this.
A poem is not not doing this either. Keep that in mind.
