I couldn't make any caps in time, so you'll have to imagine the eye candy and the brilliance of the actors this week. :)
- Jason: I really can see it from the Streets' point of view: it does cost a great deal of money. That said, they should have thought of how it would affect Jason and his relationship with people in Dillon. And I can't believe it, but Lyla - and Jason's relationship with her - is beginning to grow on me: there'e just an incredible amount of faith and trust there, and that slays me.
"You'll always be my coach." Oh, Jason. - Tyra: Tyra is, hands down, one of best acted characters on TV. Adrianne Palicki, my hat's off to you: it's a fairly cliched role - the small-town girl who dreams of escape from her abusive home - but you make it new again. I kept cheering Tyra in this episode: she stood up for herself and her mother, and she really would have moved out, and she didn't take Tim back. Good for her! Their relationship is a damn sight more interesting than Jason and Lyla's, but Tim's so clearly on the rebound from Lyla.
- Matt: You're a good man, Matt Saracen. That is all. Except to say that Matt and Julie could not be more adorable if they tried. *draws big sparkly hearts around them* They're almost as cute as Mr. and Mrs. Coach.
- The Taylors: Oh Tami, you rock hardcore. "No, honey, something terrible must have happened!" Best mother ever.
- Smash: I really wish that something more interesting would happen with Smash's plotlines, though his little speech to Waverley at the end was madly adorable.
Fun episode, but pretty much a filler; no major plot developments. Plus, no Landry, which always bodes badly for any episode.
To make up for the lack of pictures, have some recs:
- Friday Night Lights: As A Friend, As A Known Memory, by musesfool. (Jason/Tyra, R, spoilers up to Nevermind).
Tyra's the only one who doesn't want anything from him.
Note-perfect exploration of both Jason and Tyra, the ease and camaraderie between them. Plus, scorchingly hot awkward teenage sex. :) - Friday Night Lights: My Best Friend's Girl, by hackthis. (Landry, Tim, Matt, PG).
"It's always fun and games until people get killed with boulders," Landry said.
Landry and Tim, on being alone without their best friends. It's seriously adorable, and exactly what we all need after the cruel lack of Landry on the show this week. - Friday Night Lights: Dark Places of the Earth, by them0rgue. (Tim/Landry, NC-17).
This is by far the most bizarre thing he’s ever done.
Tim/Landry. With talking. Lots of talking. And with Heart of Darkness references. Go, go now! - Friday Night Lights: Kyle Chandler Challenges the Television Hair Matrix, by puppetoflove. (Kyle Chandler's Hair, Rated L for Legendary).
Certainly, it's some stiff yet springy competition.
How to explain the sheer awesomecakes of this? The word 'picspam' is so woefully inadequate. puppetoflove shows how Kyle Chandler's not the only one making waves for his performance in Friday Night Lights; his hair is doing its bit by taking on the fearsome giants of follicle (of which, OF COURSE, John Glover is king). Hysterically funny.
