Last night a nearly unanimous senate vote advanced a bill to the house blocking further media consolidation of local stations into large news outlets.
Ol' W. Still threatens to veto it no matter what, since it makes his lobbyists very terse, but if it gets through the House with the same kind of fervor it landslid through the senate with, Fox News, MSNBC and their ilk will remain available only to cable and satelite subscribers, not replacing local news stations on the public spectrum. Score one for the diversity of media voices. Next battle, the House of Reps.
That is all.
