My boyfriends mother gave me her old Nikonf401 body. It is an autofocus camera, but because money was tight and I needed to get using it asap, I bought a manual 50mm Nikon Lens. I have shot a few rolls of film and the lens works fine, I still get my lights flashing to say whether I am focused or not, and my flash power light works, but I have never ever had my exposure lights come up, which is actually quite a big problem for me. So far i've had some luck guessing exposures in daylight but obviously I want to use my camera in all situations.
Could the fact that I am using a manual lens somehow have something to do with my exposure lights not coming on?
I am aware that I can go buy a light meter or use my dslr to help, but for now i'm just looking for solutions to fix my in camera problem.
