So on my train to and from work I keep saying posters that say "Alzheimers the disease that could bankrupt a nation."

What? How is this possible? Can someone explain this claim?

Serious and nonserious answer welcome

As the baby boomers develop the disease, where will they live and who will take care of them?

My guess anyway.

sadly in america they would just get dumped into homes and forgotten about.

We are incredibly cruel to our elders.

Even if they were just dumped into elder care homes, who would pay for the homes? :/

Sad but true fact. Also with so many of them not able to work, being put on medicare/disability, placed into homes (mostly funded by the government), and in hospitals takes up a lot of time and resources the taxpayers have to pay for. So without so many of them working and contributing to said taxes, means more money being spent with less getting put back in. Is my guess.
