book i had but lost to a basement rec room flood

im looking for a...well, its kind of in between being a childrens chapter book and a YA book. it was part of a series, i remember thinking that it was kind of like the Dear America books, only it was told in third person pov instead of journal entries. the book itself was about 2 sisters who were on the Titanic. one sister was excited about the trip and the other was sorta apprehensive. they were going to make the journey with their mother, but a scarf given to her as a goodbye present back in...Sweden, i think, made her itch and the doctor checking people out before they boarded thought she had a rash and wouldnt let her board. one of the sisters' names was Alfreda. they made friends with one other girl on the ship; i think her name was Berta or something like that. later when the ship was sinking, the sisters somehow got separated, and the "friend" tricked someone by saying she and one of the sisters were actually siblings in order to get on a lifeboat. then when the remaining sister got to the US she stayed at a boarding house for awhile, then her uncle came for her.
but. after the ending of THIS book, there was a preview of another book in the series about a set of twin sisters set in the pony express days. for some reason one of the twins left their home and the other went out to look for her.
