HELP

Dear AMA,

I need some advice/help. I recently moved from one state to another which means I had to get a different car insurance policy for that state. I was looking at the paperwork and noticed that the only thing they had listed on my record was a speeding ticket. This is really weird considering that I have never even been pulled over by an officer before. So I read the stuff on the insurance papers about how to get this obviously fraudulent ticket off my record. They said that the first step was to get a copy of my record from the private reporting company that they use. So I did. It said that I got this ticket in the State of South Carolina in June of 2009. Now, being as lame and as anxiety driven as I am, I got my license in July of 2009, but had a permit since 2007. At the time of the ticket, I was living in Florida and had a Florida license (I currently hold a Wisconsin license and am in the process of getting my Florida license again hence the new insurance). Now, according to the private company I am supposed to call the state they got the record from to clear this up. I call and they tell me they got the information from Florida, they can't change anything until they get a call from Florida or South Carolina, and that it's really weird because they have no photocopy of the ticket (something that they are apparently supposed to have). They then give my the DMV numbers for the other states. I call Florida and they say, we have never had a record of this ticket. We never sent it to Wisconsin. No, we cannot call Wisconsin. So then, I call South Carolina. South Carolina (in the rudest tone I have ever heard), tells me that they have no record of it. The court case number that Wisconsin gave me is not a court case number for them (too many numbers). I then ask if they will call Wisconsin and tell them that. I am then informed that "no, they will not, and I should just pay the damn ticket." They then hang up. Now, I recall Wisconsin and give them a rundown of what I have been told. They reply with a "that's nice. We'll open an investigation, which can take four-six weeks."

So, my question, AMA, is what can I do to help this along? How can I prove to them that I have never been to the state of South Carolina?

laws, advice & recommendations, help me!
