Sometimes I can see the transmitter flashing on Infra Red remote controls. It's usually out the corner of my eye, rather than when I am looking directly at it, and it's sort of grey white in colour.
What's going on there? Is it just me?
Is the human eye sensitive to IR to some extent?
Is it more of an optical effect that occasionally causes the IR emitter to produce visible light? Something else?
