Ganked from Wikipedia, cuz they say it better than I can:
Political correctness (adjectivally, politically correct; both forms commonly abbreviated to PC) is a term which denotes language, ideas, policies, and behavior seen as seeking to minimize social and institutional offense in occupational, gender, racial, cultural, sexual orientation, certain other religions, beliefs or ideologies, disability, and age-related contexts, and, as purported by the term, doing so to an excessive extent.
I mean, not referring to someone as a he-she or a tranny, especially if that person you're talking to in particular finds it offensive (there are tons of trans folks who don't find it offensive) is being PC, but I guess I was more or less referring to the types of people who like to sit there and pick apart the context of every word someone uses in a sentence.
This is why I asked you to define PC. Under your definition being polite and trying to not being a cunt to people is being PC and you said you dislike that. So, it would make sense to get to the root of what annoys you.
Sorry, I'm trying to clarify but words are escaping me just a little bit. I'm having a tough time finding a concrete example of what I would define as PC gone overboard, but I know they exist somewhere. I guess I just find people who split hairs over word usage and context really annoying.
Lol, and re-reading my response, even that sounds vague. I don't know. I'm trying to explain my point of view in a way that makes sense, but am failing so hard.
