When you absent-mindedly encounter a stuck or jammed door, do you stand there pushing and jiggling and yanking the knob, or do you come to your senses and try to figure it why it's stuck / seek an alternate route?
We have glass doors at work with funny push-handles, not knobs, and sometimes you have to counterintuitively yank in the handle instead of pushing it out. People will get stuck at the door, even crash into it, and I think they'd be there forever trying to force it and looking like they're stuck in a trap if we didn't help them out. I mean, there's only a couple of options with a door, right? But there's a definite mental block when a door doesn't work as it should.
I have to admit that I'm a totally brainless jiggler...I've even caught myself jiggling and pushing on a bathroom door, and then slowly realized it's probably not opening because it's locked and someone's inside. I'm pretty slow.
what about you?
