In what ways have you felt confined by society? In what ways do you/did you defy these confinements?

I'm writing about social rebellion and I'm looking for some inspiration from real experiences. Your personal rebellions can be as small as defying your parents or as big as leading a huge protest. Whatever you want!
what about you?,

- I'm proudly and openly childfree. That doesn't seem like as big a deal today, but for most of my life I was treated like I was scum because of it by certain people.
- I don't fit well into the traditional job scene and worked very hard to reach a place in my life where I could work at home for myself doing what I'm best at and love most. When I was younger, people saw this as a really weird thing to want and almost unanimously implied that I must want that because I'm lazy.
- I fit some of society's ideas of what a woman should be and how she should act, but not very many -- especially internally and emotionally. There are plenty of other ways in which I'm very much like a man. My mother especially has kittens over this. She badly wanted a glamorous, simpering, flirty little femmebot for a daughter, so she considers me to be embarrassing.
- I basically defied my parents big time with my choice of religion. My dad's Christian and wanted me to grow up to be a "good Christian girl". My mom's... I don't know... I guess atheist, although she's never used this label to describe herself. She doesn't believe in anything and thinks religion is just stupid. I'm pagan and openly so.
