For a story in editing with my publisher.
My understanding is that out in the field an officer will call in when he's on break or on lunch. Do they actually clock in at the station? Say a deputy working desk on Workers' Comp light duty.
The situation is a small regional sheriff department. Elected sheriff and 7 Deputies who patrol. The dept. runs out of the same building as the county jail which has 105 beds because they take Min. Security prisoners on contract. So if you add deputies assigned to CO duty it's a couple dozen LEO on staff.
