Character profile on Court Records

Affiliation: Trainer, wearing the Gen IV teacher outfit

Personality: At her core, Mia believes in the truth, and in her clients. If she had even the slightest indication that the accused was innocent, Mia will take the case regardless of how hopeless it seemed. This perfect belief in her client, along with several of her other philosophies stems from her first case and her co-council Diego Armando. During her first years as a lawyer, Mia is incredibly indecisive, almost unwilling to commit to a decision until forced to. Again during her early years, Mia maintains her perfect belief in her client’s innocence, but seems almost put off by their manner and their relationships.

As she matured, Mia began to come into her own, and continued to add to her reputation and skill. She became more confident, and able to guide a rookie lawyer through his first case. She is quick to pass on her own beliefs, about believing in your client, and never giving up until it is all truly over onto her protégé. Even when acting as co-counsel, Mia is determined to obtain the best possible verdict.

She is rather meticulous, keeping correct records of cases and evidence, along with all her law books. To Mia, the law seems to be a way for her to get to the truth. While she believes in justice for all, she seems willing to use people, and do almost anything to get to the truth. While Mia is obviously not a promiscuous person, she is confident in her sexuality, and her body image, which she is capable of using to her advantage. She’s not an overly sexual person in terms of personality, but she does realise the difference batting her eyelashes can make when it comes to getting information.

In death, Mia seems to be more open, willing to let people bear her burden, or pass it on entirely. While she is killed remarkably early in her protégé’s career, she is called upon by her sister and her cousin multiple times to provide insight and answers. At times, it almost seems like she knows when to show up, coming in at the exact right moment to reinspire Phoenix in his moment of defeat.

Her relationship with her sister is also incredibly important to Mia, part of her decision to leave Kurain Village and the position of Master was due to not wanting to fight over it with Maya. She calls upon her sister to take care of evidence for several times, and after her death seems to inspire Wright and Maya into taking over her law firm. Maya also calls upon Mia during her times of need, asking for advice and guidance on what to do.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Mia is an incredibly competent lawyer, even in her first case, which ended badly for all parties involved, Mia proved herself to be a quick-thinker and able to turn the entire case around in her favour. She is very straight to the point, never dancing around the issue unless she thinks the time isn’t right.

Mia is very diligent, able to spend hours upon hours studying and reviewing case tapes. In her court cases, Mia is able to bluff her way to the truth when needed, and is able to hold her own against more experienced, well-versed prosecutors.

Like the rest of her family, Mia possesses spiritual powers, being of the Fey clan line, she is capable of performing the Kurain Channelling Technique, in which a spirit is channelled and the body of the channeler transforms into that of the spirit, with the exception of clothes and hair. The full extent of her powers are never fully examined, however due to mentions by other characters, it can be assumed she was a very capable medium, destined to become the next Master of Kurain Village. Even years after leaving her village, and her spiritual heritage, and through her years as a lawyer, Mia remains knowledgeable about her family’s history, and the spiritual techniques.

However, that isn’t to say Mia is without fault. She can be incredibly stubborn, in her refusal to give up on her clients, and during her cross-examinations. She will fight for her point or her client’s innocence until she is forced to back down. This stubbornness leads to what is perhaps her most major flaw, her independence. From the period when she left Kurain Village to her death, Mia spent the entire time trying to discover the truth behind what happened to cause her mother to leave the village, and her family. She sees this as her burden to bear, and is either unable, or unwilling to share this burden.

She also seems to have a slight problem remembering names correctly. ‘Wright’ becomes ‘Wry’, ‘Larry’ becomes ‘Harry’, etc.

Pokemon
Starter: A timid Smoochum she named after her cousin, Pearl.

(Please note that both samples must take place in Route_29’s setting.)

First Person Sample:

Audio

[the audio feed starts out as if she is talking to herself.]

I forgot what my own body felt like, even if it has only been a few years.

[she turns her attention to the PokeGear.]

How is everyone? I seem to be getting closer to the next town; does anybody know if it has a library, or a hall of records? I would like to do some investigating.

[she’s cut off as Smoochum lets out a shrill cry, as if it’s seeking attention.]

Ah, I must go. Thank you for any help that’s offered, if I can do anything in return please let me know.

[there’s another cry from Smoochum as the audio feed shuts off.]

Third Person Sample: Initially Mia had thought she’d simply been called by her sister or cousin, but upon opening her eyes and being completely unfamiliar with her surroundings she knew something was wrong. Not to mention she didn’t feel like she’d been channelled, instead she felt like she was back in her own body after so long. A quick inspection of herself, and her surroundings (during which she found a backpack that seemed to contain the necessary supplies for travel) confirmed her suspicions that she was indeed back in her own body (although her clothes seemed to be a bit off, but everything else certainly felt familiar.) This realisation however, was cut short by the shrill cry of an evidently scared Smoochum peeking out from behind a nearby chair. Crouching down near the creature, Mia tentatively reached her hand out, offering a few soothing noises in an attempt to calm it down.

After calming the creature down, Mia took the handbook out of the backpack, spending the next few hours studying it carefully, mumbling to herself and taking down notes on a spare pad. “Ah, so you’re a Pokemon? Sounds like something Maya and Pearl would enjoy.” The next few minutes were spent checking the contents of the backpack before repacking it and examining the PokeGear device she had been supplied with. A quick check of the design and features before it too was returned to the backpack.

Upon going downstairs, (being trailed by the Smoochum that seemed almost attached to her leg) Mia found herself thrust out of the house and into the world. “Okay Smoochum, hmm, you need a name. You remind me of Pearl, so sheltered. How about that?” A shrill cry to confirm that it did indeed like the name. A warm smile in return. “I’m glad, shall we get started? I intend to get to the bottom of this, no matter how strange it is.”
