So after an hour of searching, I finally found a tool to make my laptop stop overheating, although the measures I had to go to to accomplish this goal were kind of excessive. I located RMClock, a tool made to control the clock speed on AMD CPUs with PowerNow functionality, and installed it. The profile I have running right now puts my 1200MHz CPU at a maximum of 600MHz. Makes the fan run a lot less, which is good because I need to replace it... and it makes system performance still adequate. Yay, go me.
