castle for 20inspirations
+ charmed, alcatraz, heroes, moonlight
I completed my first 20inspirations round! The challenge was Do It Yourself, which limited you to using only the caps from your claim, and anything pre-existing in Photoshop. No textures, no custom brushes and only default fonts. I don't often use a lot of textures when I'm making icons, and I've never managed to get the hang of text, so I thought this round would be pretty easy for me. But I actually found it really difficult and I struggled with a lot of these icons. I ended up relying heavily on paint blobs to try and brighten things up, and there were a lot of screencaps used as make-shift textures, which actually worked really well in most cases and I'll be using that trick again. I only really love about four or five of the icons in this set, but I completed it anyway, and I'm proud of that.
(I also learnt that I'm terrible at colouring this show. Which is why there's so much black and white, sorry!)
