Summary: What did Callie say to Arizona during ex-chief Webber’s lecture that had her all hysterical? Inspired by episode 6.15
“We’re not allowed to beat you with sticks.” Former Chief Of Surgery Richard Webber stood confidently on stage, hands stuffed inside of his pockets. No one knew he was participating in the lecture series that Interim Chief Derek Sheppard reinstated. It was he who called upon his former boss to fill in at the last moment for a fellow surgeon who had to back out at the last moment. Sheppard hoped it would be an opportunity for Webber to redeem himself after the hospital witnessed him fall from grace. “So, we punish you with scut.”
The crowd chuckled in unison, having been there at one point or another in their careers. Ortho Attending Callie Torres was envious how much at ease the ex-Chief was with public speaking, with no preparation at all. She herself was hand picked by Sheppard to speak. Even though she made some preparations, Callie got off to a very rough start: fidgeting as if she had to go to the bathroom, accidentally putting up a picture she took of herself and her girlfriend-peds surgeon Arizona Robbins, and speaking so low that the audience could barely hear. Ari, as she lovingly called her, helped guide her lecture from the audience. She found comfort by clutching the heart shaped pendant she wore around her neck, a Valentine’s gift from none other than Dr. Robbins.
Torres’ eyes shifted to her right, where Ari sat in the seat beside her. Callie felt her girlfriend momentarily gazing at her. “I’d rather have been beaten with a stick than having to do that damn lecture, that’s for sure.” The hot-shot ortho surgeon hoped not to draw any more attention herself by mumbling her remark softly, but loud enough that Arizona would hear her.
All too pleased with her one-liner, Callie felt validated by Arizona’s reaction. Knowing that it may not have been appropriate at that particular time, Dr. Robbins threw her head back in laughter regardless. Ari was glad that her girlfriend was able to find humor out of an embarrassing situation. Torres did a better job at concealing her giddiness. After the moment passed, the loving couple gave their undivided attention back to Richard as he continued with his lecture.

This little bit of them laughing together is just too cute for words. I can't see how anybody could say that these two don't have chemistry...
