MySpace, MyMusic, MyPants

I've goneded and done it: I now have a Music page on MySpace. Add me. Embrace me. Watch me in disturbing and altogether awkward ways.

The one song on the page I did out of boredom last night (and then mixed and mastered out of interest today). To listen, download the mp3 - it's in MUCH better quality than myspace:

Mildly Frumpy Protagonist - damn the torpedoes!

It's okay. I did it half out of curiosity as to what sounds from my keyboard will be workable in tracking (i.e. what sounds are better quality than "for shits and giggles only"), and half as a refresher exercise in music editing. I'm pretty convinced my $300 keyboard can be a useful recording tool. Musically I made it up as I went along with each track, and in retrospect it reminds me of Angelo Badalamenti's stuff, especially the flanging on the strings at the end. Of course, it's more like Badalamenti since I'm far less talented. Ha, puns!

It sounds a bit rudimentary, but consider that I don't even have my actual recording rig set up yet. Let's see if I can do better when I'm recording real instruments, rather than slaving over hot MIDI samples all day.
