So I had a really fucked up dream the other night...I was in the Army, it was 1945 and I was a part of an American envoy deployed 'peacefully'? in Japan, just across the bay from Hiroshima. I remember it so clearly...we were all outside playing volleyball one night, drinking beer and having a good time, and then there was a flash, and the next thing I knew, Hiroshima was destroyed, vaporized, gone.
All i remember is that everyone around me kept laughing, as the city was burning, and I couldn't speak, I felt like I had the wind knocked out of me.
Afterwards, we loaded up on a GunnerBoat and went across the bay to see if anyone was still alive, but of course we found nothing.
The crazy thing is, it was absolutely beautiful in my mind, the burning city, the night sky backdrop, the stars...it was so clear, one of those dreams that you would swear you dreamt in color...
Maybe so, maybe not.
In more depressing, political news, (i say this only because all political news is depressing) after being basically shown the door, Colin Powell did step down, as predicted by every political analyst. Bush has decided to give Condoleezza Rice a shot at the lofty Secretary of State.
Rice is very very very intelligent. she has more doctorates and honorary doctorates than you can shake a stick at and she's been around the Whitehouse a lot for the past 3 or so years, as the National Security Advisor. She caught a lot of fire for her role in the WOMD debate (of course, anyone connected to the US Government did) but she seems to have her head on straight enough.
We'll see what happens.
