No, no, no, see, what she must mean is that Stephanie Meyer has come and taken the mindless, poorly-written vampire-book genre that she totally engineered. See? All fixed.

Oh, yeah, LKH definitely pioneered THAT genre.

How does she get published? Does she have a no-edit clause? I stopped reading her books years ago, but even then she'd degenerated to poorly written, run-on, unedited sentences. Seriously, my sister and I went through and counted entire paragraphs that were composed of single sentences. And plot went out the door to make way for Anita's magical vagina. Which might be okay if you can get past the idea of fucking that many people and still being able to get up and function the next morning. Porn's awesome - but I prefer my porn to be well-written.

Porn should be well-written and hot. Hers is just boring.

The series was so promising at first - it tanked after Blue Moon (I think that was when... don't recall)...

Anyway, she can't see around her huge ego. Not even as far as her computer screen. Honestly. *shudders*

Thanks for posting the link!

Exactly, re: the early books in the series: there was an over-arching plot, a female character with some ethical guidelines, supernatural beasties! But then... I don't know what happened.

Someone I know compared her writing to unintentionally bad!fic, which I think was a valid comparison, but people still pay for her books. I do not understand this at all.

I've heard rumor that LKH has parted ways with her Minion, and that Minion is now writing her own novel. One can only hope that Minion finds a better editor than she herself was.

Unless she's got a time machine, I am failing to see how she would predate Dracula.

... then again, maybe that's why it says "sort of" pioneered.

I guess. I don't even know how people can read her stuff anymore. My opinion of genre fiction sinks ever lower.

:) I need some Bones to wipe the LKH hubris from my brain. A fair amount of ST fanfic is better written than her tripe.

I liked the whole idea of where she was going with anita blake in the begining but then it was just "anita's magical vagina" it irked the living hell out of me. I honestly hated the character anita. though i did enjoy some wonderfully written slash fiction by far more creative writers than ms.hamilton.

Exactly! The first four (maybe?) books of the series had plot! They had adventure and intrigue! Then it devolved into nothing more than poorly written porn. Porn, okay. Poorly written? Not paying for it. Not wasting my time. I think I could feel brain cells dying the last time I read one of her books.

*shakes head* actually my favorite book of hers was when she went to help Edward out west. NO SEX.

I prefer my slash fan fiction any day!

I know, right? Fanfiction is often far better than anything published for profit. :)
