For those who I have been unable to send this to as of yet, please accept this program. Ah, it is a map. I believe it will be of assistance.

[He sends his map program to anyone who hasn't received it yet. And then gives a little bow.]Ah... For those who do not know, I am the Empire of Greater Japan. ...Pleased to meet you. ...If there are any ( Read more... )

[Haer'Dalis has taken it upon himself to help with the cleanup process of dealing with this plague of dead bodies. So he's been wheeling dead bodies back and forth in Discedo on his wheelbarrow. It is on one such excursion of wheeling around dead bodies that he spots Japan walking the streets.]

Ah, good day to you Japan! And how are you on this fine day?

[Apparently everyday is a fine day, so long as you're not one of the bodies being wheeled around.]

[He might punch you in the face in this mood. Fair warning. But for now he just glances over and doesn't even bother with a bow.]

I would rather not speak about such a thing in this sort of setting... [A sigh, and he eyes the wheelbarrow critically.]

...That is extremely disrespectful, you realize.

[Haer'Dalis is quick to catch on to Japan's tone, but he doesn't seem to really mind the fact that Japan might be willing to punch him. He does nod at his current surroundings though.]

Yes, to be fair this isn't exactly the nicest setting to be discussing fine days, or the pleasant weather. But I personally try not to think about it too much.

[He chuckles at the second comment]

And what else do you propose I do? Let the bodies pile up in grotesque display on the streets? Start a huge bonfire? Perhaps build thousands upon thousands of coffins? I am truly sorry if you find it disrespectful Japan, but something must be done, or we will run into problems much worse than simply bodies of loved ones lying everywhere. We could all come down with plague, or a monster infestation of the worst kind.

[He picks up another body, gingerly hoisting it onto his wheelbarrow.]

[He closes his hands at his sides and glances away.]

I am waiting to speak to Kresnik-taichou about this in order to find a better way.

You're welcome to do so if you like, although I think time is of the essence here. The longer we wait to do something, the more likely the odds are that we won't be able to do anything until it's too late. I spoke to Kresnik about this a little myself, but I was fairly certain he agreed that something did indeed need to be done.

[He sighs a little and relaxes.]

Yes... I realize. I will not stop Haer'Dalis-san, of course.

And how have you been personally holding up during all this?

[Haer'Dalis is slowly filling up his cart, to be wheeled off to where he's been burying a massive number of bodies, but he's still only barely making a dent on the cities corpse problem.]

[He pauses.]

Knowing that there are those who depend on me to be sturdy... I have been handling it quite well. I am not sure if I would be so calm otherwise.

That's a rather admirable reason to stay calm my good Japan. I wish I could lay claim to such a reason for my well being, but the honest truth is I have become incredibly desensitized to death. I have watched my closest friends and companions die so many times, that I don't even really blink in surprise at it anymore.

Admirable, is it...

[He blinks up at the sky. Fog everywhere...]

After so many years, I suppose I could say I am desensitized, in one sense. But I do not believe any amount of years will stop me from being sad at such a thing. Though I can appreciate the beauty, as well...

The beauty of life, or the beauty of death?

Both. They go hand in hand, after all.

I hear that sort of thing quite often, but I am simply a boring old man.
