Sometimes reading your writing is like reading about myself. For a long time I've blamed my lack of ability to stay at jobs on physical health or mental "scarring". The truth of the matter is, we just don't fit.

Sam and I have talked about this again and again- the concept of working "9-to-5" jobs horrifies us both....and having Juni now makes it, for me, an impossibility because I won't abandon him eight hours a day for a paycheck

jake is currently working a 9-to-5 job right now, and he is coping with it rather well, but i certainly can't imagine being in his place. i think the plan you & sam have sounds great and makes good sense to me... and will probably wind up being what i do (eventually). i think i'm nervous about going to school and paying all that money to learn my chosen field(s), only to realize later that any job just drains my life away. i'm sure i'll figure this thing out eventually. jake also loves photography and plans on going to school for the same thing! our tentative plan is similar to yours - because it is true, photographs can be taken anywhere. and if i'm picked-up as a model for some organization i actually want to support, that would be perfect for the two of us. we'll see. and i wish you luck!!

Your ideas for modeling sound wonderful, and it's so hard to find models here that "get it".

Asking someone to pose nude here is the equivalent of approaching them in a trenchcoat offering them lollipops. Nudity is seen as perverse and something that will "kill your career". Bleh!

Recently I came across a photographer's work and thought of you...I'll have to find it again and point him out to you.

aw, i wish the same thing! i would love to model for you... i am always eager to try new sets and new styles of modeling & photography. and i already know that you would respect my politics (that's the biggest thing i have to go through with photographers - my pro-body hair, queer, pro-sex feminist rant). someday...

Ah, yes, there's a photographer named Klaus Staeck...very political.

He did a book called "Pornografie" which is scenes of everyday violence (if there is such a thing) and I thought...wow...someone who sees, as i do, that violence is so much more obscene than nudity or enjoyment of our bodies.

I am meaning to look this book up at 1/2 price- I'll let you know if I find it :)

I think way more people than you would ever know hate the 9-to-5. Some of them just kinda put up with it, some some people grow to like it, and some people force themselves cause they think they have no choice, and it ends up killing them. I strongly believe that people can make themselves a living without having to be dependant on the man for it. The problem with dream jobs, is that they're still jobs. Even something you love doing can be stressful and shitty if you're doing it on someone else's terms and schedule.

But there are always ways out. Think about what you love more than anything in life, what excites you and get you going. That's your homework. ;)
